This website provides information about the Liberty Double Eagle minted from 1849 to 1907. This classic $20 gold coin is a favorite of many collectors and includes some incredible rarities.

The obverse of the coin features a depiction of Liberty and the reverse features a heraldic eagle. This coin was designed by James B. Longacre and underwent several minor design modifications during the course of the lengthy series.
